Student Information

Parking

 

Parking will be covered. Please park in the San Antonio Garage, which is located at 2420 San Antonio St, Austin, TX 78705. Information regarding barcodes to print will be released in a about a week. Parking is approved with a barcode permit.

 

The permit must be scanned at the entrance and exit each time, even if the gate arm is in the raised position. Failure to do so will cause the permit to become out of sync and a $15 reset fee will apply. Please display the permit on the vehicle's dashboard while parked. Failure to display the required UT permit can result in a citation to the vehicle. When dashboard permits are issued duplication is strictly prohibited and, if found, can result in a citation with a minimum fine of $210 and possible booting of the vehicle.

 

Address for the Venue

 

Check in will be done at the Texas Union, located at Guadalupe St & W 24th St, Austin, TX 78712. We will have signs pointing towards the check in desk, it should be near the front entrance of the Union. This is about a 5 minute walk from the parking garage. The map below shows directions as to how to get to the venue from the parking garage.  We should also have signs or volunteers present to help direct people from the parking garage.

 

 

All morning and afternoon activities will be take place at the Union. During the lunch session from 11:30 AM to 1:00 PM, we will temporarily relocate to the Student Activities Center (SAC). We will move all attendees as a group.This is about a 10 minute walk. After lunch, we will go back to the Union to resume Break Out Sessions.

 

Dress Code

 

The dress has been updated since the last announcement. We are now changing from business casual to business formal. This is in an effort to give the best first impression to employers and ensure that you have best experience at networking with them. Please try your best to meet this updated dress code.

 

In case of Rain

 

Austin’s weather is known for being erratic. We ask that you please bring an umbrella with you in case it does rain as we do have to move between buildings for lunch.


 

Getting around Campus

 

UT’s campus is known for being large and confusing for visitors.  If you do choose to leave the group at any point, we recommend using the app UT Utilities for Android users. In the situation that the app isn’t working, we recommend using the 2nd app listed below, MyUT Austin.  This is what the icon should look like for UT Utilities on the Google Play Store.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Simply go to the Buses & Maps section, search for the building you need to get to, tap on the bubble that shows where the building is,  and it will sync with Google Maps to give you directions. Make sure that Google maps is adjusted to give you walking directions if you are walking on campus. To find the Union or the Student Activities Building, search UNB and SAC respectively in the app.



For the Apple Store, we recommend using the MyUT Austin App. This is what the icon should look like for MyUT Austin on the Apple Store.

Networking Details

 

We are planning for a more casual Networking Event with students as we can not hold a "Career Fair" due to changes in UT Policy. However, you do not need to worry about not being able to interact with companies as you would normally. The only difference you should expect between this and a normal career fair is that no physical resumes can be exchanged during the Networking Event. The solution to this is that all attendees should update their LinkedIn. Company representatives will be able to pull up your resume through LinkedIn on a electronic device.

 

To clarify, no physical resumes are allowed at the Networking Session. The only time physical resumes are allowed are during the Resume Critique Workshops.

 

Networking will be occuring in the Union from 3:00 pm to 4:00 pm.


 

Wifi

 

UT has a new guest network on which you can login for free and without any passwords. It should appear on your devices as “utexas Guest” or as something similar.



 

Workshop Schedule

 

The tentative workshop schedule is below. Topics of each workshop will be announced on the website soon. In the event that the schedule changes, we will promptly send out an announcement reviewing the change of schedule.

*Shell RC are the Shell Resume Critique Workshops

*LM are the Lockheed Martin Workshops

 

Once we confirm which rooms will be assigned as Room A, B, C, and D, we will send an email with the updated schedule.


 

Finding Help on the Day of Conference

Our volunteers can be found throughout the conference wearing pink SASE TEXAS shirts, they will gladly help you with any issues throughout the day.


 

Our Non-Profit

 

Asian Family Support Services of Austin (AFSSA) is a nonprofit org based in Austin, Texas, that provides assistance to Asian and other immigrant families dealing with domestic violence, sexual assault and trafficking through advocacy, support, awareness and access to social services.

 

AFSSA will be tabling at SCRC this year. Come by their table to play a fun trivia game about the misconceptions and statistics of domestic violence, sexual assault and trafficking! They will also be accepting donations in the form of money, and gently used or new items such as kitchen supplies, blankets, clothes, toys, shoes, books, etc. Full list of items can be found here: https://www.afssaustin.org/agency-wish-list/ . If you donate, you will receive an additional raffle ticket, which will go towards possibly winning one of the many items we will be raffling off!

We will be including one raffle ticket with everyone’s welcome bag. To get one additional raffle ticket, stop by the AFSSA Table and donate! We will be auctioning a lot of great items this year!

Social

 

The bowling social will take place right after the conference. It is recommended that you bring casual clothes to change into for the social if you plan on participating.
